UPDATE ON RURAL ROADS - 13:20hrs A537 & A54 #Macclesfield / #Congleton to #Buxton are still closed at this time The issue is the ice, so it may look clear on sections but as you can see from my car the rain is turning straight into a hidden hazard. The decision is due to be reviewed in the next few hours by Cheshire East Council - but as things get colder we might see the ice risk increase? You may drive a vehicle that would easily take on some of the challenges, albeit we have seen a very expensive 4x4 in a ditch today. Sometimes it can just go wrong and so then it's about how we can respond to help you and the availability of the emergency and voluntary services. (We do appreciate that the weather hasn't hit our area as bad as we expected) The rest of the county is having its issues and with side road problems too. If you're making a journey, plan ahead and ensure you look after yourself and other road users. I also just want to say a massive thank you to the officers from my team and the Cheshire Police Special Constabulary who moved shifts and commitments around to work into the night and be back on this morning too. Much of this goes unrecognised and I think you're all brilliant Thanks all, Sgt Simpson
